Highlights of Florence

1. The main Piazza, from where you can spot the famous Duomo, with its magnificent terracotta coloured cupola.

2. The Duomo. Get there early to avoid the crowds and climb the 463 steps into dome for a breathtaking view of the city.

3. The Piazza della Signoria where you’ll find a unique outdoor gallery of sculptures, including Neptune’s Fountain and a copy of the famous Statue of David. The Palazzo Vecchio (the Old Palace) is also here. This was built in the early 14th century and is still used today as the Town Hall.

4. The Uffizi museum, which has a world-renowned collection of Renaissance art. You don’t have to be an art lover to savour the Uffizi.

There are many other highlights which all say “Visit Florence” at least once in your life.

Italy’s largest chocolate festival takes place in Florence, from January 20-29 at Saschall. The Fiera del Cioccolato Artigianale is a festival of music, games, shows, but definitely the best part is the tasting of high-quality chocolate, hand made by artisans from all over Italy and Europe.

This year, the festival will welcome some of the best chocolate makers from Switzerland and Belgium. That’s right - all the chocolate is handmade.
